The General Grand Masonic Congress
Ancient Free & Accepted Masons
of the
United States of America and Canada
(G.G.M.C.)
Preamble:
The Masonic Order of the General Grand Masonic Congress A.F. & A.M. has long since been a member of the Masonic order in the U.S.A. It was originally organized under a different name. Having requested and received their Charter Rite June 27, 1847, A.D. at Boston, MA. as "The National Grand Lodge;" it was revised in 1870 under the same name. This Organization was again reorganized 19 years later by the Late "JOHN G. JONES" in Cleveland, Ohio, August 9th, 1889, A.D. under the New Name "National Masonic Congress; A.F. & A.M., but he later resolved to change the name to "The General Grand Masonic Congress of The United States of America (A.F. & A.M.) on April 27, 1896, Washington D.C. when he was the Sov. Grand Commander of the U.S.C. of the Southern & Western Jurisdiction (A.A.S.R.). It would be 31 years later when it would be Re-Incorporated under Ill. G. C. William 33rd in November 3, 1927, in Washington, D.C. to be finally Re-Inc. under Ill. J. C. Parker, August 26, 1946…
The 1946, the revised Constitutions and Bylaws actually state, "This organization [G.G.M.C.] being known by all, and by those present, at a regular stated Biennial communication by duly elected and acting officers, and authorized delegates, Board of directors and financial members of the General Grand Masonic Congress, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of The United States of America and Canada, resolved to locate its Grand Seat or Holy See in Washington, District of Columbia."
The objective and purpose of this organization is for the mutual protection and benefit of its members and officers, while providing opportunities for advancements in the Masonic Arts, Mysteries, and Sciences. To teach the Universal modes of Free Symbolic Masonry thereof for the first Three (3) Degrees of the Rites. This National Body is constituted and operated by "MOST WORSHIPFUL GRAND MASTERS" and "PAST GRAND MASTERS", and MOST WORSHIPFUL GRAND LODGES of the various States and Territories. It is the highest power and authority of the first Three (3) degrees of Free Masonry.
This National Organization of A.F.& A.M. Lodges was formed to act as an advisory and administrative body of the Fraternity, not as a governing body for its member Grand Lodges. The United Supreme Council (U.S.C.), that it is affiliated with, is a part of The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite (A.A.S.R.) Order of Freemasonry for the Southern and Western Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America. It was organized April 5, 1869, in the city of Washington, D.C., by many high degrees Masons from Washington, D.C. who regulate Scottish Rite Masonry from the fourth to the thirty-third and final degrees. Each of these bodies serves the purpose of giving the Masonic student a clearer insight into the realm of Masonic perfection, rendering him similar services as would a college to a high school graduate.
